2008 was a HUGE success in the shoe box ministry. 2009 will be no slacker either. Go ahead and make your plans to either round up supplies or donate to this wonderful project.

If you desire to participate in the Shoe Box ministry this year, we have included a list below of items to pack in shoeboxes. Also, if you just want to buy items and let us pack them, that is another way of helping.

TOYS
small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES
pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

HYGIENE ITEMS
toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

OTHER
Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

A PERSONAL NOTE
In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)

Do Not Include:

Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snowglobes or glass containers; aerosol cans

Pajamas

In December of 2008, we outfitted each child we minister to with a pair of Pajamas. We want to double that effort next year and also provide a blanket to go with the paamas! We can use several things associated with this:

1. A source for the pajamas. A business who can purchase these cheaply and pass the savings on to us.

2. Donations for these. We are looking at 300 pairs of pajamas, if we give each child two pair.

Imagine not having to sleep in your clothes anymore, but having your own ( and in some cases – your 1st ever pair ) pajamas. This will be a huge blessing to the children! Most of the children that we minister to in Mexico sleep in their clothes. Having nice pajamas to sleep in will be something that will affect their lives for the better, and will be remembered – every time they put them on!
