Shoe Box Boxes……….

2217-white_sm.jpg

I had to laugh at the title of this post, but I knew also that it would deliver the message with the fewest words.

What the deal is, is this; All 100 plastic shoe boxes (empty) have been purchased. So if you are wanting to pack a shoe box, there are several ways to go about this.

  1. If you are local to us, call or email and we will get boxes to you.
  2. If you are out of driving distance, and want to pack a box – do so. And then mail it to us and we will repack into a nice new plastic one.
  3. If you simply want to purchase items for the boxes, do so and ship/deliver them to us and we will pack.
  4. If you simply want to donate funds, that is appreciated also.

God Bless!

As We Reflect

In an article from a news source this morning………..

NEW YORK – Relatives of World Trade Center victims bowed their heads in silence at a small park Tuesday to mark the moment exactly six years earlier when the first hijacked plane struck the towers.

The firefighters and first responders who helped rescue thousands that day in 2001 and later recovered the dead were to read the victims’ names for the first time.

As I went to bed last night, the memories of 9/11 were in my mind. Forever ingrained by the graphic images of TV and other media, these are not something I will soon forget. But today I want to talk about another group of people.

In the 11th Chapter of Hebrews we are reminded of a group of people who suffered much also. We oftentimes call that chapter of the Word the “Hall of Faith”.  As believers, we should constantly remember the path’s that our forefathers in the faith blazed for us.

We are humans are so fickle. How quickly we forgot 9/11 and started going about our lives again, and so soon taking for granted that our elected officials were going to protect us from another such disaster. The fight against terrorism goes on behind the scenes as we work and play. We are for the most part, oblivious to all that transpires.

It is so in the spiritual realm also. How soon we take for granted the miracle that we saw last week or the blessing that God provided a month ago. What we don’t realize the full impact of is this; how the ultimate terrorist – Satan – is constantly pulling us down as we get comfortable and let down our guard.  Just as we cannot fully depend on our elected officials to keep us safe from radical extremists, neither can we think that our pastors and leaders in the church can keep us safe from the attacks of the enemy. We must be vigilant ourselves.

1Pe 5:8  Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour;

1Pe 5:9  whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood.

1Pe 5:10  But the God of all grace, He calling us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Blessings to you today!

Mom

My Sister in law Cindy wrote this piece below as an answer to the email I sent out earlier today about children growing up. It is about “Mom”, which refers to all Moms. I can only echo her sentiments, and to take it further, know that these same problems are compounded with orphans who have no Mom.  Thank God for people who love and care for orphans!   Enjoy Cindy’s writing………….

Mom was home when we were kids.  She did not want us messing up the house so we had to play outside.  On school days, we did our homework before playing – or else.  We only watched TV after dinner with our folks.  We had a certain bedtime with no ifs, ands, or buts.

Mom now usually has to work.  She is exhausted when she gets home and does not want the kids underfoot while she fixes dinner.  The world is too scary outside to let them wander about so she does not object to hours in front of the TV.  If she is not too frazzled, she will try to get the kids to do their homework before watching TV but more often than not she takes the path of least resistance.  Same with bedtime.  She is lucky to get them into their pajamas and tucked into bed.  Usually they fall asleep in their school clothes while watching inappropriate television shows.

The world is going much too fast.
