Happy Thanksgiving

Vicki and I want to wish all a Happy Thanksgiving, and our prayer for you that your continued season winds into the culmination of a celebration of the most glorious event ever – The birth of Christ.

As I perused the internet news this afternoon, I was at 1st alarmed that a WalMart worker had been trampled to death by the crowd as he attempted to unlock the doors. But then after much thought, alarm switched over to sadness. Sadness for him and his family, and sadness that the anniversary of the birth of Christ has come to people dying in the name of consumerisim.

This year, rather than being a part of the crowd that has to have the latest gadget and use the birth of our Saviour as an excuse to do so, consider giving a gift to an orphan. I know that most people browse this site and think that we do two trips per year for shoes, and PJs but I want you to know that it is much more than that.

LTCM supports orphans year round with monthly donations to 4 orphanages. We invite you to be a part of that this coming year.

Crunch Time!

It is coming down to the wire now. People have heard the cry and responded, and we thank all who have. But there remain 18 children who still need a pair of Pajamas purchased for them. Only 18 and we will have pajamas for ALL!

Other items are coming in as well, such as toothbrushes and toiletries. Praise God for those! We will package them for distribution to the orphanage directors.

We understand that the economy has hit some people hard. We too have been affected! But the needs of the children continue. Also, we have a team member that we really want to take with us, who has lost her funding due to the poor economy. She has been twice before and the children love her so much, that we really want to see her be able to go.
If you could slip something extra in for Ashley, that would be a huge blessing!

18 more sets of PJs.  Can you afford a pair?

God bless all who pray, give, and care for the children.

Getting Close!

The deadline for getting the pajamas purchased and wrapped is coming down to the wire! Today is the 13th, and we need everything done by the 22nd of this month. If you want to get in on purchasing Pajamas for the kids, please do so now. You can donate online securely HERE.

Our tentative departure date is 12/6/08 for the trip down to Piedras Negras. Of course, Don and Amiee Crabtree will be hosting us again as always. They have been such a blessing to us, and serve as our permanent liaisons to the 3 orphanages there.

We have space also for another team member as well! Contact us for details.

A New Phase

Some time back, God spoke to me in a Sunday morning service. His words were simple. “It is time to ramp up the ministry. Some things will fall to the side, but I have already prepared people to pick them up”. I knew that this would mean the eventual closure of my tenure as Music Minister and Deacon in our local Body. I just did not know when.

The time has come, and after talking with Pastor Joey, I have tendered my resignation at LCC. Vicki and I will still call LCC our home and will attend services at LCC when we are not on the road somewhere, until such time as God tells us otherwise. We are now available to speak and minister in other churches and gatherings. And we will be doing that to increase awareness of LTCM and to also simply be a blessing wherever God directs us.

Having served at LCC for 17 years this was not an easy thing to do. The choice was simple. Do what God said. Doing it was another matter indeed. But God knows best, and when you become comfortable in what you are doing, the tendency to become hum drum is easy. God sometimes takes us out of our comfort zone and it is during those times that we grow. We are stretched and pulled and do things that we swear that we are not able to do, but He shows Himself strong during those times, and our faith is increased.

Please pray for Vicki and me as we make this transition. Thank you all for your prayers and faithfulness.

An Interesting Twist

God always moves in ways we cannot understand. At a time when the economic “scare” has people holding tight to see what will happen, our funds have almost stopped coming in. Decisions have to be made to which area to possibly cut back on, and that is something that we dont want to happen. I know that both projects – Shoeboxes and Pajamas are something that God told us to do. But when the funds are not there, either you make changes to plans or God works a miracle.

In a sleepy little hamlet in Louisiana, right on our route to Mexico is a church and group of ladies that are going to do the shoeboxes. All we have to do about that is to stop on the way and load them into the trailer! Praise God!

That leaves the Pajamas.  We need to get these purchased. We basically have less than a month to get them purchased and to get them wrapped and loaded. That is not a lot of time!

Could you find it in your heart today to send $20 to buy a pair of Pajamas for a child who has none? Could you stretch that and buy 2 pair?  You might say that $20 is a lot for a pair of pajamas, but you must figure in the cost of buying, wrapping, and transportation to get them there.

It is turning cold at night in the region of Mexico that we minister in. What a blessing it would be to provide a pair of pajamas for a child, knowing that they sleep warmer at night.

Pray and see what God would have you do.  Blessings to all.
