Riches To Rags

All our lives we have been inundated with stories of Rags To Riches. We are told to “reach for the stars”, you can be anything you want to be. Even preachers espouse doctrine telling you that you should prosper in everything you do, and if you are not getting richer on a continual basis, that something is wrong with your faith!

Jesus had none of that. He followed the exact opposite doctrine and in reality teaches us to also. Now before you think that I have gone off the deep end and am saying that all should vow poverty and live as Ghandi or some backwoods prophet, let me explain.

Jesus had it all. He was one third of the Godhead. He owned everything and was ruler over all. But He came to save and seek the lost and then die for them. He went from Riches to Rags. He died naked, hung upon a cross, stripped of every possession, and what he left behind – soldiers gambled for.

His life was a continual downward spiral of servanthood. The exact opposite of what the world tells us to do. He gave all that was in Him for us. If we, as His servants spent even a tenth of the time we have in servanthood to our brother, how the Kingdom of God would grow.

For you see, after He had spent all His life on us, God exalted Him higher than any other name. Now He sits at the right hand of the Father. While we fight to sit at the head table, He urges us to sit with the kitchen staff.

More on this thought process later.
